The volume- a Lifetime in Tourism- is Sam,s story of his experiences in Sri Lanka and abroad. It is a virtual history of the development of tourism in the country. The volume is organised in chronological sequence and begins in 1966 and ends in 2009. It traces the development of national policies on tourism and the changing institutional landscape. The Government Tourist Bureau gave way to the Ceylon Tourist Board in 1966 and since that time a concerted attempt has been made by all governments to expand the tourist and hotel industry. Sam refers to the many men and very few women who managed the various aspects of tourism development, both in and outside government. http://ceylon-ananda.com/a-lifetime-in-tourism
