This study has been conducted on a request of the Karnataka state police department of the government of Karnataka. The study sought to: systematically assess the quality, responsiveness and outcomes of the basic services provided by police stations to the public and to generate better understanding of the problems and constraints being faced by the police personnel in their role as service provider to the community. The methodology adopted for the study had a three-pronged approach such as desk research, field investigation and data analysis and interpretation.
