This policy note summarises results and experiences of a poverty mapping exercise in Sri Lanka that has been conducted in close collaboration with the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) since 2003. Poverty mapping is a useful method to uncover spatial heterogeneity in poverty incidence that is prominent in Sri Lanka. The note provides maps of poverty estimates at sub-national levels and links them with maps of remoteness and drought.
