The main objectives of this study is to provide private power developers with ready access to the basic information on the small hydro sites in Sri Lanka, and to contribute to the systematic development of small hydro as a supplementary source of energy to meet the national electricity demand. The report presents a brief description of the rainfall of Sri Lanka with emphasis on the wet zone. It also presents an outline of the small hydro technology and summarises the information available on this technology. The latter part of the report presents the study methodology, scope and limitations of small hydropower potential in Sri Lanka, followed by a detailed analysis of the investigation of the findings of the study.
