Child abuse, sexual or otherwise, is a pressing problem in Sri Lanka. This manual is based on a month long programme that was called ‘Training Of Trainers’. The manual provides the necessary guidelines for trainers to develop the skills needed for counselling and rehabilitation children who have undergone abuse. The manual has a multidisciplinary approach and seeks to help trainers organize and conduct programmes on child abuse. It will also aid in programme development, raising awareness, assessment, management, skill development and evaluation of child abuse. Through a thorough review of a conceptual framework for the programme and an analysis on the nature of child abuse, this manual provides very useful and structured guidelines that will aid any individual or organisation that is involved in working with children who have been abused.
