This study links two extremely relevant challenges in the field of development cooperation today: peace promotion and youth promotion. Taken together they can help prevent crises within a given social context. Social transformation and development processes never pass off without some sort of conflict. When conflicts escalate to internal crises and war, it is often the young people who bear the brunt. On the one hand, the youth may become victims of these violent outbursts, while on the other hand they might begin to accept violence as a definite means of conflict resolution. Further, as the young people have an enormous potential for creativity and innovation, reconciliation and understanding are pinned on this group and therefore creates hope for non-violent conflict resolution. This publication offers an overview of the broad spectrum of educational and youth promotion activities along with peace-building and conflict-preventive objectives.
