This book is an attempt by Panos Institute South Asia to analyse environmental justice in South Asia by focusing on specific issues from five countries in the region. The environment is looked at in its totality: it is seen as being integral to the problems of political, social, ecological, economic, legal and cultural inequality and asymmetry of opportunity. While on the one hand, this collection of essays by South Asian journalists sharpens the focus to country specific challenges, it also manages at the same time to widen the range of voices speaking on the subject as well as pull together some common concerns of the region.
