Several conferences and awareness programs were conducted in Sri Lanka with the objective of making awareness on what federalism is and how it is practiced in other countries. This publication expects to contribute this controversy by briefly providing important points that should be discussed in any federal explanation. It shows how federalism is practiced as a successful political technique which allows peaceful co-existence of the public in ethnically and racially divided societies as in Sri Lanka.
