The Gender Planning Network of Micro Impacts of Macroeconomic Adjustment Policies (MIMAP) undertook this study as part of a multi-country study. It aims to integrate gender concerns in the MIMAP Poverty Monitoring System in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. This report examines the situation of women and men in the Philippines in terms of available data from north-wide censuses, surveys and reports. Gender based issues have always been a problem in the Philippines, especially in terms of job discrimination and violence against women. The results of this study are presented in two volumes that present the conditions of men and women n terms of health, nutrition, education, employment and political participation, and also cross-examine the different indicators of poverty.
