The impact of modern agricultural biotechnology on the livelihoods of farmers was the subject of a pilot project initiated by the Intermediate Technology Development Group (ITDG) in the UK with financial support from the Development for International Development (DFID). The focus of the project evolved around the Genetically Engineered (GE) crops. The main aim of this project was to identify and analyze the impact of GE crops both real and potential, and to create a communication mechanism for creating awareness on such implications among policy makers, professional, producers, and the general public. This report presents a synthesis of the results of the community level study conducted with the farmers to measure the impact of the GE crops on their livelihoods.
