This report intends to document some of the experiences of the urban slum and shanty dwellers in Colombo who were resettled into two newly constructed housing projects, namely Sahaspura and Chitra Lane, as well as experiences of those who are not yet resettled and live in slums and shanties in close proximity to the above locations, i.e. Hathbodiya and Halgaswatta. The main purpose of this research paper has been to understand the main issues of resettlement of the urban poor in Sri Lanka under the broad areas of living conditions, livelihood issues, and intra-community social relations.
