International migration and its related issues are likely to occupy an increasingly prominent place in the foreseeable future. This volume presents the results of the first set of studies that was carried out within the ‘International Migration and Development Research Program’ which was initiated by the Development Economics Research Group of the World Bank. The program aims to expand on the knowledge available on migration and to identify policies and reforms that will lead to superior development outcomes. This book provides data and analysis, while it tackles two sets of issues. Part I analyses the determinants and impacts of migration and remittances on the different measures of development and welfare while Part II focuses on questions regarding the ‘brain drain’.
