This Socio-Economic Profile was prepared by the Velanai Divisional Secretariat and the Islands South Pradeshiya Sabha. An objective of this study was to take into account the aspirations of those affected by its outcomes. Consequently, the development issues detailed in this publication were identified in collaboration with the citizens of the Islands South Division who actively participated at every stage. The Islands South Division, situated in the Jaffna district of the Northern Province of the country, was severely affected by the civil war.
