This set of documents titled ‘Lessons Learned During 12 Years of Wetland Work in Sri Lanka’ follow the projects on wetland work that have been carried out by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) supported by the Government of Netherlands. This particular section discusses the management of fisheries. Fishery is the mainstay of the families residing along the banks of the Negombo Lagoon, and the Northern border of the Muthurajawela Marsh. Using these two cites as the samples for the study, this document examines the productivity of the fisherman, the problems faced by them, and the possible management solutions that could be implemented in this area.
