The main obstacle in uplifting the living conditions of the poor has been named as the lack of capital. In this context, an analysis of the existing credit programmes and their usefulness to the community is important for NGOs as well as policy makers. Due to these circumstances, this review by the RDTRI on some micro credit schemes in Sri Lanka is very helpful. The information gathered and the conclusions made at this review will be used in the future training programmes and other development programmes, which has been the ultimate objective for these research reports.
