This is based on hands on research experience by a group of students from the University Of Helsinki, Finland who were in Sri Lanka on a study tour in 2013. The study tour was carried out with the support of the Sarvodaya people’s organisation. The essays compiled by the students are based on their research focusing the Women and their vulnerabilities, Rural out-migration in Pannala, Gender and domestic work in rural Sri Lanka, Ecotourism in Udawattakele, Kandy, Land use change in Pannala, Kegalle, and Outcomes of post-tsunami housing reconstruction. The essays are based on interviews carried out by living in these areas to obtain a firsthand experience on the rural life.
