This pamphlet explores the links between public and private patriarchy in the context of plantation workers. The authors argue that the state is not isolated from power relations reproduced in the home, and that fear and domination within the home can prevent women from raising their voices within their societies. They examine female plantation workers as a marginalized group within a marginalized group — the 'slaves of the slaves', and consider how patriarchy in and outside the home contributes to this marginalization
