This study was undertaken with the aim of exploring different elements of poverty mapping within the context of Sri Lanka in order to suggest optimum methods that could be followed. The study has addressed three main problems of poverty mapping: data generation method for comparisons; choosing a suitable and applicable mapping level for the best understanding; applicable layers (maps) for each mapping level.
