This report is written based on a case study of the famous Mount Lavinia beach of Colombo, along the coastal regions of Western Sri Lanka. At a time when the Sri Lankan Government intends to improve public recreation facilities in urban areas, Mount Lavinia beach is the quintessential beauty of a coastal evening. It is important to sustain this place due to the large public gatherings, for a time of relaxation. As a part of the Urban Development Authority’s (UDA) Metro Colombo Urban Development Project, Sri Lanka needs competitive and dynamic cities to reach its aspiration of becoming an upper-middle-income economy and a global hub. The report has many interesting ways of looking at quality of life and observations made during the research.
