The main areas focused in this article are that family expenditure on education and health care increased rapidly when the father is the migrant worker and the mother is able to manage the remittances well, thus enabling the welfare of the children. When remittances are handled well and children are given good care, it leads to both human development and material development. There are number of economic studies showing the relationship between remittance flows and development impacts. Well managed remittances also increase physicals assets, minimise poverty conditions and enable business start-ups.
