In this report, the International Fund for Agricultural Development suggests that poverty reducing policies must focus on rural areas, to be successful in its theories. This study defines the terms ‘rural’ and ‘poverty’ is meant by and the types of people prone to poverty. There are many tables giving data on the mortality ratios, trends in poverty etc. The effect of Land Reform and other methods of alleviating poverty are studied in this report. This report is an extensive study of rural poverty across the world and the methods that have been put in place in order to alleviate poverty. Lack of assets, access to education is studied at length. Despite many programs and plans have been introduced during this time to help the poor, this book focuses on many aspects further to implement a process where the poor are empowered to take responsibility for their own development.
