This presentation draws on a review of international best practice and the current status in poverty measurement in Sri Lanka to highlight some of the important issues involved in improving Sri Lanka’s poverty measurement methodology (PMM). The presentation briefly reflects on the current status of poverty measurements in the country.It raises several general questions that need to be addressed in the process of improving Sri Lanka’s PMM and provides food for thought in addressing some specific questions that are relevant to Sri Lanka.
