Violence against women intrudes on the most intimate and private areas of our lives; at a domestic level. However, it can also intrude on every aspect of public life, impacting national economies. Realising the need to identify the relationship between violence against women and marginalisation of women at all levels of decision-making. South Asia Partnership International (SAP International) and Social Inclusion Research Fund (SIRF) collectively organised an interaction program- Spectrum of Violence Against Women in Nepal on the 18th of June 2009, in Kathmandu, Nepal. This conference focused on four main areas of violence against women, namely household, politics, media and the workplace. This report based on the conference lays out the rationale for intensive research on violence against women other than domestic violence, which is important because women are moving beyond the household. This report also provides evidence that domestic violence is not the only type of violence faced by women.
