The release of this report coincides with the 10th anniversary of the historic resolution 1325 that was passed by the United Nations Security Council. The vulnerability of women and girls to violence during and after armed conflict, and the absence or low level of women’s representations to prevent war, build peace and restore devastated societies was an eminent issue. The resolution was passed in order to end this neglect. Further it aimed to draw out the untapped potential off women everywhere on issues of peace and security. The report highlights how these women, from diverse nations that are undergoing conflict and post-conflict situations, are faring a decade later. It further highlights how these people are working from grass root levels with support from humanitarian and development organisations to rebuild their society and create an atmosphere that will foster peace.
