A publication by Women and Media Collective in December 2013, the book covers the topic of female migration of Sri Lankan Workers to West Asia. Sri Lanka's migrant labour force is a vibrant and vital part of the national economy where close to USD 3.3 billion was contributed in 2011 as per the Central Bank report. Two major features of the study covers the fact that women are the main income contributors to households and the impact women's absence from their families. The return and reintegration of Sri Lankan migrant workers on temporary overseas employment has been the focus as of recently. The process was a part of the development of a Sri Lanka National Labour Migration Policy facilitated by the ILO office in Colombo. The book highlights steps taken to ensure effective reintegration of returnee migrant workers.
