The cost of providing healthcare is increasing so rapidly that it will soon be difficult for the government to cover health expenditure fully, as in the past. Provision of free healthcare will prove increasingly difficult and the need to explore innovative ways of healthcare financing, including the use of public-private partnership will become necessary. The main purpose of this document is to outline priority areas for the work of the World Health Organization in Sri Lanka.
