Sri Lanka endorsed its national development framework in 2006 placing greater emphasis on inward looking policy for self-sufficiency in Other Field Crops (OFC). The Ministry of Agriculture was the focal point responsible for strategic planning and undertaking measures to make this policy a reality. Understanding the fact that seeds could play a critical role on the productivity of the OFC sector in the country, the Agricultural Resource Management Division of the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) organized a workshop on the theme “Strengthening of OFC Seed System in Sri Lanka”. The objective of this workshop was to prepare a conceptual framework with limitations impeding the development of OFC seed system and measures to overcome such limitations. This report is a compilation of the presentations, outputs of group discussions and conclusions arrived at the workshop with recommendations. It provides a holistic view of the present status and performance of OFC seed system and serves an an important reference and guideline that can be used for future policy making and programme planning.
