The aim of the Rapid Assessment (RA) is to gain a better understanding of the nature and intensity of the Worst Forms of Child Labour (WFCL). This particular study examines the situations of children in exploitative employment in Sri Lanka. It looks at case studies and other information gained from a survey and a legal review of the laws prevalent in Sri Lanka to depict a clearer picture of the problem. The study explores the factors that contribute to children in exploitative employment and the conditions in which they have to work. It also provides information on existing legislation. It conveys detailed information regarding the different sectors in which children are employed and exploited in. It also looks at this issue in relation to the geographical location of children and how it varies according to location. Furthermore, it discusses the various institutions and organisations in place to combat the problem at hand. It is a comprehensive study that gives the reader an in-depth understanding of the factors that play a role in children in exploitative employment.
