Development Perspectives: Growth and Equity in Sri Lanka was published to honor Prof. W.D. Lakshman, explores the themes of growth and equity in terms of development. It also keeps with the current concerns of policy makers. Sri Lanka however is currently beset by two more fundamental macroeconomic problems. In addition, Sri Lanka’s economic growth is lagging in comparison to other countries such as Vietnam, India and China and secondly equity is worsening, along with income declines in many provinces. The papers in this volume strive to provide some insights into these crucial questions.
