The Eighth National Convention on Women’s Studies was organised by CENWOR in March 2002. Thirty nine papers were presented at seven sessions focusing Women in the Economy, Literature, Social Issues, Mobilisation/Empowerment, Education, Health and Conflict. This publication presents the results of the paper on Social Issues. The publication is comprised of several papers including Incest and the Girl Child: Case Histories of Incest in Central Sri Lanka, A Study on Imprisoned Female Heroin Users, Trends in Drug Use of Women in Sri Lanka 1996-2000, and Issues related to Relocation of Low Income People in the City of Colombo with Special Reference to Women in Newly Relocated Areas.
