Poverty is an unacceptable human condition. It is not immutable; public policy and action can, and must, eliminate poverty. Close to 900 million of the world’s poor live in the Asian and Pacific region. Nearly one in three Asian people live in poverty. In helping reduce poverty in the region, the Asian Development Bank draws on strengths that equip it uniquely for the task. These include the exclusive focus on Asia and the Pacific. This document summarizes Asian Development Bank,s poverty reduction strategy.
