The world has the physical capacity to supply food for its entire people; there is, now, sufficient technical skill to use that capacity well. The programme of action of The World Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (WCARRD) provides a plan for making those resources available to those who need them. This process of agrarian reform and rural development can lead to much greater equity and much less poverty. It can also banish to history that enduring and painful tragedy of hunger- if the world’s nations and their citizens commit sufficient energy and resources to that process.
