The Plantation Human Development Trust has been responsible for collection and compilation of health data in the estate sector. This Health Bulletin documents the health situation during the period 2000 – 2004, of estates that come under the purview of the Plantation Human Development Trust. The analysis is based on the data collected through the monthly Family Health Return and the Annual Health Return. The bulletin provides useful information for estate management and estate health personnel, as well as for policy makers, health administrators and others interested in the health and welfare of the estate population. The document highlights some important health problems and issues that need to be addressed for improving the health situation on estates. The report indicates that 23 private sector companies have, in most instances, responded positively, in maintaining and improving health and welfare of the resident population on estates.
