After thirty years of war and destruction, Sri Lanka has begun to develop rapidly bringing in economic and population growth. Over the past few years Colombo and suburb cities are under beautification projects. However, according to the national data, there is a huge mismatch in economic growth and poverty reduction. Along with the development taking place, the levels of crimes have increased in an alarming manner. Research also highlight that economic growth do not necessarily bring in wellbeing of communities all the time and that development too does not create happiness always.
