This set of documents titled ‘Lessons Learned During 12 Years of Wetland Work in Sri Lanka’ follow the projects on wetland work that have been carried out by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) supported by the Government of Netherlands. This particular edition discusses the establishment of a Visitor Center for wetland areas that is meant to serve as an information center for people and to raise funds for its management. The report focuses on the first Visitor Center, “The Marsh” that was established outside the Muthurajawela Sanctuary which is an attraction for tourists, both foreign and local. It examines the objectives of this project, along with the effects and benefits of having a Visitor’s Center.
