This report has been compiled based on documentation available at the National Child Protection Authority and information provided by relevant officers. It includes some context to the relevant topic which focuses on trafficking from a Sri Lankan perspective, and highlights the international commitment in place to safeguard the rights of children from ILO-IPEC South Asian Programme. Thereafter, the report goes on to outline a project that was commenced in 2001 to strengthen the national capacity to combat trafficking in children for exploitative employment. Similarly it looks at the design and implementation of a model for the rehabilitation of trafficked children in the next section. The fourth section of the report focuses on generating awareness about the issues through diverse mediums. The final two chapters examine the other activities funded by ILO/IPEC to combat trafficking in children for exploitative employment and to provide rehabilitation for trafficked victims.
