This publication puts together in one volume, the research papers that were produced for the Sri Lanka National Workshop, Impact of Structural Adjustment and Economic Reform on Women’s Employment, which was held in Colombo on May 1995. The papers illuminate the processes that were taking place in the country as it pursued a structural adjustment programme. Moreover, these confirm the gender blindness of structural adjustment policies. Though a few years old, the papers have identified policy issues that are still very relevant and significant today, as Sri Lanka and other countries continue to adjust and restructure their economies to meet the level of the global economy.
